Boring services are for the CFI Rochester 400 units.

Basic services are performed on all CFI 82-84 units. (still to be determined)

The services listed below are performed on your cores.

We only bore the CFI bases to 2.0" and 2.15"

Shipping is an additional cost. We use USPS Large flat rate box to U.S. only. International is at an extra cost.

Please see warranty for information regarding the coverage and overhauling of your core.

Please understand that CFI units are a quite a bit more labor intensive/time-consuming and have more parts than a typical GM TBI

We will do everything that we can to "balance" each unit before they are shipped.

Cores must be in good working condition for us to accept them for servicing.

TBI Bushing Services
1. Basic - Oil impregnated bronze bushings "Oilite"
a. Base units are inspected and completely disassembled.
b. Ultrasonically cleaned and glass-bead blasted
c. Shaft bores are reamed and bushings installed using LocTite retaining compound
d. Threads cleaned/chased
e. Bores are polished
f. Springs and shafts are painted or clear coated to help prevent rust. Coatings are not carb/brake cleaner resistant, but are chemical resistant
g. Shafts are drilled and tapped for a stainless button head Torx-Plus screw
h. Blades are installed and screws are secured with permanent LocTite
i. Throttle stop screw plugs will be removed if not already done prior to us receiving units
j. Blade angle on each unit is set as equally as possible to allow for a more balanced pair.

2. Advanced - Double sealed needle bearings
a. Same as the Basic bushing service with exception that we perform a multi-step reaming process on the throttle shaft bores. This allows us to achieve an accurate reaming of the bores to fit the double-sealed needle bearings.
b. Installation of the needle bearings is a tedious and time-consuming process. Once installed, we insert a 3/8" stainless rod in to each unit to hold the bearings securely while we use a 2-part epoxy fix them in place. A 24 hour dry time is required before further handling of the units is done.

TBI Boring Service
1. Expanded boring service of your TBI (base units only) Please send your TPS with your units.
This is the most comprehensive performance boring service ever offered for the CFI community. The following is a detailed description of what we do to make your CFI throttle bodies outperform any other that has been on the market. We use a Bridgeport milling machine and Criterion boring head with carbide inserts to perform the boring process.
2.0" Boring:
1. When your units arrive we fully inspect them prior to disassembly. We bag and tag your parts.
2. Units are completely disassembled and ultrasonically cleaned.
3. All parts are glass-bead blasted. Threads are cleaned/chased and all openings are cleaned with an appropriate size round stainless brush including vacuum ports.
4. Throttle shafts are thinned on the bottom as well as opened up on the blade seat surface to accommodate the larger blades.
5. Shafts are drilled and tapped for a stainless button head Torx-Plus screw
6. Base unit test ports are prepped for installation of test port tubes. Ports are milled then filled with a 2-part epoxy and test port tubes installed. 24 hour setup time is required before any further machining can be done on each unit.
7. Next step is a 1.5 hour multi-step boring process to open up each bore to the exact dimensions specified in your order. This multi-step boring allows us to provide you with the most accurate bore dimensions and the smoothest bores possible.
8. Each base is installed in a custom fixture to resurface the bottoms. We use a 2.5" Kennametal indexable facemill for this process.
9. Next we perform a multi-step reaming process on the throttle shaft bores. This allows us to achieve an accurate reaming of the bores to fit the double-sealed needle bearings.
10. Installation of the needle bearings is a tedious and time-consuming process. Once installed, we insert a 3/8" stainless rod in to each unit to hold the bearings securely while we use a 2-part epoxy fix them in place. A 24 hour dry time is required before further handling of the units is done.
11. Shafts and springs are now painted/coated with a chemical resistant paint and/or clear coat. This is not resistant to carb/brake cleaner.
12. Installation of shafts and springs is next. Custom laser cut 6061-T6 blades are installed and screws are secured with a permanent LocTite. These blades have been anodized and laser-etched.
13. Blade angle and gap is set on each unit to insure the closet possible fit to make sure they are as close to being matched as possible.
14. Installation of your TPS is now performed and voltage is set to .525V.

2.15" Boring:
The 2.15" units go through same process as listed above with exception of installing a sleeve in each unit. The units are heated to a certain temperature for a determined length of time. The sleeves are frozen. They are press fit and epoxied in. Holes drilled for the throttle shaft, etc., and bored to exact dimensions. The inlet of the bores are now chamfered and blended to create a smooth transition from inlet to bore sleeve.

Includes the following gaskets for both boring services:
1. 2 custom cut base flange gaskets
2. 4 fuel nut Teflon washers
3. 2 IAC valve gaskets.
Does not include any other gaskets, O-rings or hardware. 3 week build time once we receive your unit.

Complete TBI Overhaul Services (basic overhaul on all CFI bodies NO BORING)
2. Basic overhaul of your complete units with NO performance mods (no boring)
Degrease, glass-bead blast, bush shafts with oil impregnated bronze bushings, 2 new IAC valves, 2 new IAC gaskets, new TPS and we set voltage for you to .525V, new regulator diaphragm and new compensator diaphragm, ultrasonically clean injectors, flow test injectors and, electrically test them, install new filters and O-rings, raise pod to 1/4" by using two stock pod gaskets for each pod assembly. Includes base flange gaskets, air cleaner gaskets and new Teflon washers for fuel nuts. Stock bore size remains the same

Complete TBI Overhaul and Boring Service ( Still to be determined)
3. Ultimate TBI Overhaul of your unit which includes boring. We do not add or delete anything on this service. It is as described.
This is the most comprehensive rebuild of your GM Rochester 400 TBI units. We combine Service #1 and Service #2 to give you the most complete and ULTIMATE Rochester 400 build on the market today.
We also give you the following upgrades that are not included in Service #1:
1. (2) 1/4" laser cut 6061 aluminum pod spacers
2. The best bearings on the market (double sealed needle bearing upgrade).
3. We resurface the bottom of the base on our mill.
3 weeks build time once we receive your unit.
